Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. select the most appropriate oral anticoagulant for various indications and patient factors.
  2. develop appropriate periprocedural plans related to anticoagulation stoppage, bridging, and restart.
  3. identify inappropriate use of anticoagulation and antiplatelet combination therapy.
  4. select the appropriate INR target range and length of treatment in patients requiring warfarin therapy.
  5. evaluate ischemic stroke risk and need for anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation based on patient risk factors.
