Overview
Managing Emergencies in Pediatric Anesthesia (MEPA) is a simulation course, enabling the safe teaching of rare but serious situations in a consequence-free environment. Evidence-based, peer-reviewed scenarios allow the candidates and facilitators on the half-day course to improve both their theoretical understanding of serious adverse events and also practical human factor/crisis resource management strategies applicable to such events.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize and treat a severely hypovolemic patient and demonstrate the hemodynamic risks posed on the induction of anesthesia. Participants also be able to effectively manage an acute cardiac tamponade.
