Overview
As part of the Michigan Medicine team, how do you use your interactions to encourage colleagues to express their ideas, questions, concerns, or share errors without fear? Creating these types of interactions requires building trust and psychological safety through asking effective questions, active listening, and reflection. These three fundamental skills, collectively called humble inquiry, foster open and respectful conversations and create the conditions necessary for becoming a High-Reliability Organization (HRO). In this course, you will practice humble inquiry and have the opportunity to reflect on the connections to your own work situation. After this activity, participants will be able to describe, practice, and apply humble inquiry techniques. Apply actions to further develop humble inquiry skills and habits. Describe and demonstrate the relationship between humble inquiry and psychological safety.
