Overview
This education will empower clinicians to impact the opioid epidemic by learning and implementing best-practice care management during the perioperative period. The combined modules satisfy Michigan's licensure requirements of 3 hours of pain and symptom management (CME) credits. Participants use their knowledge to assess the risk factors of opioid use for acute care patients. Every learner will improve their coordination practices.

Objectives
Module 1 - At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of acute care prescribing in the current U.S. opioid epidemic.
  2. List the risk factors of opioid use for acute care patients.
  3. Detect the factors that influence acute care opioid prescribing.

Accreditation
The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
