Overview
The API Summit continues its tradition of assembling the top thought leaders in clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology informatics. The Pathology Informatics Conference topics will include exciting and innovative informatics sessions in the following fields: Laboratory Medicine, Anatomic Pathology, Digital Imaging and Machine Vision, Molecular/Genomics, Operations, Education, AI/Machine Learning, Regulatory Issues, and many more! As digital pathology advances and laboratory-driven precision medicine transforms clinical practice, pathology informatics has become the central nervous system of modern healthcare. It governs how diagnostic data is generated, analyzed, and shared—directly shaping the flow of patients through the therapeutic process. From the moment a specimen is collected to the initiation of a targeted treatment plan, informatics ensures that information moves accurately, securely, and efficiently. The efficiency of this flow is essential to quality, impacting everything from diagnostic turnaround time to clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify key trends in data science as applied to digital pathology and laboratory medicine.
  2. Create new opportunities for data management, interoperability, and collaboration within healthcare enterprises.
  3. Demonstrate strengthened clinical informatics and operational efficiency competencies.
  4. Initiate machine learning and AI tool development in their departments or divisions.
  5. Identify and foster mentorship opportunities in pathology informatics.
  6. Develop and expand research collaborations that drive innovation and precision diagnostics.
  7. Evaluate how informatics-driven patient flow enhances the quality and timeliness of diagnosis and treatment.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Michigan Medical School and Association for Pathology Informatics (API). The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation
AMA PRA Category 1
The University of Michigan Medical School designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 16.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
