Overview
Diabetes Turning Points is an interactive skill-building workshop designed to help providers address the psychosocial challenges of diabetes care. Through case-based discussions, participants will explore key obstacles such as disengagement, misinformation, and distress, while practicing practical strategies to foster collaboration and motivation. Attendees will leave with evidence-based psychological and behavioral interventions to strengthen patient engagement and support meaningful behavior change.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify key psychosocial and behavioral barriers that interfere with diabetes self-care.
  2. Recognize signs and clinical implications of diabetes distress in persons with diabetes.
  3. Practice behavior change counseling skills that can be applied in routine clinical visits.
  4. Develop realistic, patient-centered action plans to support sustainable self-management behaviors.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Michigan Medical School and Behavioral Diabetes Institute.
