Overview
The Updates in Nephrology for the Primary Care Provider course will focus on improving the diagnosis, treatment, and management of kidney disease and keeping healthcare professionals informed about the latest advancements in the field.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. describe the different types of urinary incontinence (stress, urge, overflow, functional, and mixed) and common irritative voiding symptoms (urgency, frequency, nocturia, dysuria).
  2. learn key components of the history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests (e.g., urinalysis) to guide clinical decision-making.
  3. recognize the renal and extrarenal manifestations of PKD.
  4. define prognostication in PKD.
  5. understand currently available interventions to slow future decline in kidney function – use of renal protective therapies in geriatric patients with CKD.
  6. implement newly approved therapies for glomerular disease, including side effects.
  7. develop a basic approach to workup and management of hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia.
