Overview
Join this hybrid program in-person and virtually. New information regarding the medical evaluation of steatotic liver disease, how to evaluate a patient with a liver mass, and the diagnosis and management of patients with alcohol liver disease will be reviewed. In addition, an update on the detection and management of minimal hepatic encephalopathy, GI bleeding in patients with cirrhosis, and how we can collectively increase the organ donor supply in Michigan will be provided.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of steatotic liver disease including the use of diet, exercise, resmetirom, GLP-1 agonists and bariatric endoscopy
  2. Know how to evaluate a patient with a liver mass
  3. Know who and when to use anticraving agents in patients with alcoholic liver disease
  4. Know how to assess and treat patients with covert and overt hepatic encephalopathy.
  5. Utilize recommended management of upper GI bleeding in patients with cirrhosis including use of vasoconstrictors, antibiotics, and endoscopy
  6. Understand current efforts to expand the organ donor pool in Michigan including the use of DCD livers
