Overview
Module 6, Adolescent Substance Use and Injury addresses alcohol and cannabis use and injury among adolescents, and the opioid epidemic.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Express the rationale for early interventions for adolescent substance use and consider this in providing care
  2. Relate rates of substance use among youth to association with injury
  3. Describe alcohol and cannabis-related consequences including injury
  4. Identify shared socio-ecological risk and promotive factors for substance use and injury among youth
  5. Compare effects of substance use intervention among youth with regards to a reduction in substance use and associated injuries
  6. Identify interventions used to reduce opioid prescribing after surgery

ABP MOC credit
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.75 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.
  • In order to earn credit, eligible learners must complete the entire module (ex., watch video, complete readings, score at least 70% on assessment questions), and complete the Qualtrics survey (evaluation) link at the end of the module. After completing the questions in the survey, learners will be able to click the link to submit their credit in MiCME and save/print their CME certificates.
